You have probably noticed that we now have a new phone answering system. When you call you can choose the parts or service departments. We are still working out the kinks so please let us know if you are having trouble reaching us.

We are very happy to announce that we have hired a new addition to Swedish Engineering, Chris Diccion, as our new Parts Manager for the Ann Arbor shop and he will also back up Corky in the service department there. Read more about Chris in the attached article.

Swedish Engineering has recently joined a Twenty Group. A Twenty Group is a group of business owners of similar businesses that get together to help each other improve their businesses. Maggie Harryman has written an article about the twenty group for this issue of our newsletter.

We have recently revised our website so we would appreciate your comments and feedback on that. We will continue to improve the service web pages with the hopes that making apppointments, communicating with us and answering your questions can be done on-line if that is more convenient for you.

We hope everyone had a great holiday and are having a happy new year!

We are excited to have gotten a chance to interview Jarrod Stenberg. He is the founder of the Brickboard, a Volvo enthusiast web site. It is a great source of information and comraderie with fellow Volvo owners.

I imagine you’ve all heard about deaths around the country caused by static electricity while vehicle fueling. As the winter gets colder and standing at the pump for even two minutes (that’s how long it takes to fill an average gas tank) is bitter. We were wondering exactly what the risk is and how to minimize the risk of having a fire. Although it is extremely rare, it is easy to take a few precautions to prevent disaster. Also, If you are a parent of a young driver you may want to make sure he/she is aware of how to safely handle fuel.

We are re-vamping our website and constantly improving it. So you might want to keep checking back to see the changes and please give us your feedback.

Fall is a great time for preparing your Volvo for the upcoming winter. See the article on page three for some great winter tips.

In this issue of our newsletter, we are happy to announce a new addition to our company, Tom O’Connor. He comes to us with 35 years experience and the credentials to back up his experience.

We have another personal experience article written by Maggy Harryman. When it comes to taking away Maggy’s personal freedom and right to choose it gets her a little angry. The thought of not being able to take her Volvo to her favorite independent repair shop in California is a bit extreme. It’s a topic that you will likely find important to you too.

Just to let you know Swedish Engineering is able to keep up with the latest technology so that you can continue to have your Volvo repaired by us. We have purchased all of the available software and tools and we will be sure that your Volvo is repaired properly.

We hope you will continue to purchase Volvos but as a measure you will communicate with your congressional representative about H.R. 2735 -The Consumer’s Right to Repair Bill.

In the last issue of our newsletter we printed the beginning of an article about Tom Torbjornsen’s thoughts on anti-aging for automobiles. In this issue, we continue with his thoughts on preventive maintenance.

We have two “personal experience” articles this issue. One written by Margi and the other by Maggy. Although they have similar names and very similar fathers they tell you about very different experiences.

The 6th Annual Swedish Engineering Car Show and Picnic is scheduled for September 14, 2002. We’ve had a great time every year. Welcome to our winter edition of our e-newsletter. Hope you are enjoying this snowy (for us in the midwest) Winter.
